WELCOME
School Registration deadline is March 27th, 2026
School Registration (Early Bird Discount) – Friday February 20th ($100 registration fee)
Hard School Registration Deadline (Regular Price) – Friday March 27th ($150 registration fee)
Individual Student Registration Deadline – April 17th ($100 registration fee)
Students pay their registration fees to their school – and then DramaFest collects all fees (Production, School, and Student Registrations) via one invoice charged to the school in the days leading up to the festival.
If your registration is subsidized by another organization, please let us know at your earliest convenience.
Schools are able to submit one production each. Productions can be a maximum length of one-hour.
DramaFest staff will work with schools to draft a tech schedule to accompany the main festival timeline – and schools will be given a time slot of one-hour (sometime before their presentation), where students can work with professional Dalhousie technicians to set cues for their show and prep for their presentation. On the night of the performance, professional artists attend the show and provide adjudication to students.
Production slots are given out on a first-come first-served basis, as we have limited spots at the Festival for student productions. Once we fill up, we will start a waitlist. Productions Slots are $100 each, and while we will of course try to be fair, there is no guarantee of when or where your school’s production will be placed in the festival.
DramaFest is a welcoming, inclusive environment and a great opportunity for students to get to see work from their friends and peers at all different stages of the creative process. We encourage Schools to bring us staged readings, workshop presentations, and devised theatre pieces. It all contributes to a more wholesome view of what students can do.
Tech Forms for your Student Productions are due in on the same date of Student Registrations – April 17th, 2026.
As part of the EDANS Spring Conference, Teacher Professional Development sessions are held at DramaFest at the same time as Student Workshops each day. Allowing teachers the same tailored in-depth learning that their students engage in! Presenting a professional development opportunity unlike any other offered in the province. This connection to Dramafest is what makes the EDANS Spring Conference such a unique learning experience for teachers. A portion of each day will be spent learning alongside students!
Teacher Professional Development is facilitated by local professional artists and educators, and provides workshop facilitation on topics that teachers have expressed interest in. Subjects are tailored towards drama pedagogy or theatre skill-building, and also provide an excellent opportunity for Drama Teachers from across the province to connect and learn together.
On the final day of the festival, conference participants use the opportunity to share teaching strategies, resources and assessment ideas.
In 2026, Teacher Professional Development workshops will be facilitated by ______ and _______ on the topic of _____________.
